Reverend Larry L. Hill, pastor of Mark's Tabernacle Baptist Church in Washington, Georgia gave the following invocation at the Investiture Ceremony of Thomas Brittan Hammond as Judge of the Superior Courts Toombs Judicial Circuit on Friday, December 2, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Lincolnton, Georgia.
Our Heavenly Father: the Sovereign God of this marvelous universe; the God that gives us life, health, and strength; the God who gives us the ability to lead, the power to reign and guide others, we honor you.
Our Heavenly Father, as we are gathered together this day to witness the swearing-in of this your elected servant, Judge Britt Hammond,
we collectively recognize and honor you.
Our Heavenly Father, we pray that you grant him your wisdom, knowledge, and strength as he sits in this office of authority.
Our Heavenly Father, allow your Holy Spirit to be with him and his family as he executes the duties, the responsibilities, and the oath of this office.
Our Heavenly Father, your word declares in Psalms Chapter 1 verses 1-6:
1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Now be it so, in the name of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. Amen!
